Currently, the reliance on manual sampling and delayed laboratory confirmation often hinders the rapid response required for airborne infectious disease outbreaks in densely populated areas like Kampala.
The lack of integrated bio detection infrastructure means that many healthcare facilities depend on reactive rather than proactive screening. This gap is particularly critical in regions where zoonotic diseases frequently transition to human populations, necessitating a more robust localized monitoring network.
Furthermore, the high dust concentration during the dry seasons in Uganda often interferes with standard sensor accuracy. There is an urgent need for specialized equipment capable of distinguishing organic biological threats from inorganic particulate matter to reduce false alarm rates in clinical settings.
